Adding a Service

If your service provider or enterprise has deployed gateways to popular consumer instant messaging services and have made them available to you, then you can add an existing instant messaging service account to Sun Java System Instant Messenger.

Select Add a Service from the File Menu of the main window. The Enter Service Account Information window displays, where Service is the name of the instant messaging service. You are asked to authenticate to that instant messaging service through Sun Java System Instant Messenger. The information that you are asked differs from service to service. Typically, you are asked to enter your instant messaging account user name and password.

If you no longer want to connect to a service, uncheck the service by selecting the service again. The service is disabled.

You must create an account with the instant messaging service before you can add it to Sun Java System Instant Messenger.
