Deleting Instant Messenger Instances from the Cache

Use the procedures in this section to delete the Instant Messenger software instances cached on your system.

This section contains the following information:

To Delete Sun Java System Instant Messenger Instances from Windows Cache (Java Web Start)

  1. Launch Java Web Start Application (JWS) Manager.

    For example, double-click the JWS icon on your desktop.

  2. From the Applications menu, select Remove Application.

    Any shortcuts for Instant Messaging are removed as well.

  3. Close Java Web Start Application Manager.

To Delete Sun Java System Instant Messenger Instances from Windows Cache (Java Plug-in)

  • Delete the java_plugin_AppletStore folder.

    For example, in Windows Explorer, select the folder and then from the File menu and click Delete.

    By default, the folder in Windows appears as:

    C:\WINDOWS\java_plugin_AppletStore\

To Delete Sun Java System Instant Messenger Instances from Solaris Cache

  1. Launch Java Web Start Application Manager.

    For example, double-click the javaws icon in the javaws directory.

  2. From the Applications menu, select Remove Application.
  3. Close Java Web Start Application Manager.
